As noted before, Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in San Jose, California featured the set up for an AEW World Championship match between Kenny Omega and MJF for next week’s Dynamite Beach Break 2026 show. This upcoming match is notable for featuring the stipulation of if Omega loses, then he can never challenge for the AEW World title again in his AEW career.
Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that AEW officials original plan was for Omega vs. MJF for the AEW World title to take place at this month’s Redemption event in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez reported that the reason for the change is currently not known beyond this being a decision that was made “fairly recently” by AEW officials.
Meltzer also reported that it is also currently not known why the AEW International Championship match between Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita is taking place at next week’s Dynamite Beach Break 2026 show instead of at the Redemption event.
