As noted before, Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in San Jose, California featured the set up for an AEW World Championship match between Kenny Omega and MJF for next week’s Dynamite Beach Break 2026 show. This upcoming match is notable for featuring the stipulation of if Omega loses, then he can never challenge for the AEW World title again in his AEW career. AEW’s original plans for this match was for it to take place at this month’s Redemption event in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that AEW officials plans for an AEW World title match between MJF and Omega has been in the works for well over three months at the very least.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that the long-term plan for this match was for AEW’s upcoming Redemption event on July 26.
