Video: Night of Champions 2026 Recap
We kick things off with a recap of Night of Champions, focused on the Triple Threat Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship that saw Sami Zayn finally win the big one to a great reaction from the crowd in Riyadh.
In-Ring: Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Adam Pearce
Sami Zayn wants us all to know, he is a GOOD GUY! 👀 pic.twitter.com/vTro5ZQxj4
— WWE (@WWE) July 4, 2026
With that we go to ringside as the new champion is introduced to a big pop from the Atlantic City crowd on his way out. That pop turns into a mixed reaction for Zayn as he enters the ring, something Sami acknowledges by hyping up those who ride or die with the last real good guy. He talks about how much it means to win the title, even in spite of those who “fell off the bandwagon”…saying he could tell them to kiss his a–.
He says the reason he’s holding this is he never changed. People told them there are things he will have to do, that he doesn’t want to do…but he won this title without doing any of that, he did it the right way. He talks about those who said he was not “championship material”… and he could tell each and every one of those people they can kiss his a–. But he won’t. Some in the crowd are chanting “Sami” to which the champ says “damn right,” noting that he will forever be known as a WWE Champion…and no amount of booing, no amount of hating, no amount of noise can ever take that away from him.
“Wrestling…has more than one royal family”
Out comes Cody Rhodes, crowd singing along with his theme as he heads down the ramp. Cody gets to the ring, standing atop the turnbuckle as his pryo goes off again. He enters the ring itself, asking for a microphone. Cody addresses his old friend Sami, who quickly asks Rhodes what he wants to talk about.
Cody says he was reminded of something from what Sami said, that when Cody won that title Sami was one of the first to congratulate him. He doesn’t want to wait in line, offering a handshake as he congratulates Zayn on winning the title. He starts to leave the ring but Sami tells him to hang on a second. Sami says he has something Cody once had, so to drop the act and be honest.
Come right out and tell me why you’re really out here. We don’t get to hear what that is, as Jey Uso makes his way out to a largely positive reaction from the crowd. Jey gets a microphone as well, saying he’s not gonna “run it back” as he’s out here for Sami. He tells the new champ he won that, he deserves that, but…you know why I’m here, Uce.
He says he needs to bring that gold back to the family. Cody asks Jey what year this is. He says Sami is the one standing here with the WWE Championship, and Jey has held the World Heavyweight Championship. Since when has Jey reverted to being an errand boy for the Bloodline? Besides, Cody’s looking to get HIS rematch…but Sami says the two of them have had their time but now this is his.
He points out that despite Cody saying “as long as I have this you never will,” Sami now has this. As far as the title being back in the family…as far as he’s concerned, he’s still in the family. So, he’s telling Cody this as a friend and Jey as family, that they’re not getting their shot.
He starts to leave when Adam Pearce comes out, talking about becoming acting SmackDown GM after what happened on Raw with Nick Aldis. Sami has issues with not having a say in who faces him for the title and when, with Pearce saying that may be how Nick runs things but he is calling for Sami to defend the title next Monday on Raw…with Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes competing tonight to determine that Number One Contender!

We cut backstage where Charlotte’s interview is cut off by Alexa Bliss having issues with her teaming with Tiffany Stratton. The two are interrupted by the Women’s United States Champion, and she in turn is interrupted by Chelsea Green as the four of them team up tonight.
Six-Woman Tag Team Match
Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton, & Chelsea Green vs. Jade Cargill, B-Fab, & Michin
JADED 💎@Jade_Cargill, B-Fab and Michin score the WIN! pic.twitter.com/Ezg0BTCBgT
— WWE (@WWE) July 4, 2026
Matter of fact, that match is up next as we head back to ringside for Charlotte Flair to make her entrance before we go to commercial break.
Back from break, Tiffany Stratton rounds out the first team’s entrances before Jade Cargill and her baddies(?) make their way out next. We take a look back at the trio attacking Charlotte Flair two weeks ago, before heading back to the ring to get this match underway!
We start off with Jade and Tiffy, but Cargill is quick to back off for a tag to Michin. She lays in some hard shots on Stratton before tagging in B-Fab, and the pair double team her for a nearfall. Tiffy gets the tag to Charlotte, who clears Michin out of the ring before sending Fab to the corner. Exploder suplex by Flair, who pops back up as B-Fab heads back to the corner…only to be send to the outside by Charlotte.
Before she can do anything else, however, Flair gets knocked off the apron by Jade as we go to commercial break.
Back from break, Jade is firmly in control as she takes Flair to the corner. Tag made to B-Fab, who pulls Charlotte away from making a tag before knocking Stratton off the apron. Green is still waiting for a tag as Fab tags to Michin…and Chelsea gets the tag!
She goes on a flurry of offense, sending Michin to the mat before landing a Rough Ryder…but Fab breaks the pin. Chaos ensues as the rest of the women come in, before Jade gets sent out of the ring by Green…who gets rolled up by Michin for a 2.
Jade gets the tag for some revenge, but Green counters Jaded for a nearfall before being sent to the ropes. She knocks Fab off the apron, but gets caught with a Jaded giving Cargill the win.
Winner: Jade Cargill, B-Fab, & Michin via Pinfall.
Video: Gunther, Nick Aldis
Commentary talks about the upcoming Season 3 premiere of WWE Unreal on Netflix, before looking back to the confrontation between Nick Aldis and Gunther at Night of Champions.
We are reminded that both men were sent home due to their actions, with Aldis being placed on administrative leave and Adam Pearce becoming acting General Manager of SmackDown.
Backstage: Sami Zayn, Adam Pearce, Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae

Backstage, we see Pearce on the phone with Aldis before Sami confronts him about having to compete on Raw. Pearce talks about a great champion being on a great show before wishing him all the best. Adam walks away, and Sami sees his old buddy…Johnny Gargano, still laying around backstage.
He talks to Gargano about winning the title before thanking him for believing in him, asking for a photo as SmackDown rolls on.
AAA Cruiserweight Championship
El Hijo del Vikingo vs. Rey Fenix (c)
REY FENIX RETAINS!!! @ReyFenixMx is STILL AAA World Cruiserweight Champion! 🏆 pic.twitter.com/g8CZx1pGCT
— WWE (@WWE) July 4, 2026
Fenix lands a couple shots on the challenger before being sent to the ropes with a headscissors, and Vikingo continues the fight from the corner with some hard kicks. He gives a shoutout of sorts to Ronaldo before Fenix fights back, landing a cross body from the corner.
He hits the ropes for momentum before dropping Vikingo with a cutter, but it’s only good for two. Vikingo escapes to the outside, where he trips up Fenix with the apron before landing a dive on his own. He poses on the announce desk as we go to commercial break.
Back from break, Fenix turns things around with a kick from the corner before landing a rope walk kick sending the challenger to the mat. He lands a frog splash but only gets two, and this allows Vikingo to regain control as he sends the champ to the canvas.
Fenix is back up already, intercepting Vikingo on the turnbuckle…but he gets sent to the mat with a hurricanrana by Vikingo! The challenger goes up top but Fenix rolls out of the way, landing a running kick on Vikingo in the corner before dropping him with a Mexican Muscle Buster for the win!
Winner: Rey Fenix via Pinfall to retain the AAA Cruiserweight Championship.
Fenix celebrates his win.
Video: Giulia, Kiana James, Blake Monroe
We take a look at the match between Giulia and Kiana James last week in London, along with the post-match attack by Blake Monroe.

Blake Monroe ATTACKS Giulia AND Kiana James!!! 🤯@BlakeMonroeWWE pic.twitter.com/Sm0gpahML4
— WWE (@WWE) July 4, 2026
Backstage, Giulia starts to give some thoughts when she is interrupted by Kiana James, who runs the former Women’s United States Champion down before Blake Monroe blindsides her once again!
She sends Giulia into the road case, reminding her who she is before stepping away. Kiana James jokes about Giulia needing to remember who’s in control…and it seems it’s not Kiana, as Monroe slams HER into the road case as well before walking off!
Video: Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins
Raw Rewind™: Seth Rollins told Roman Reigns that he is always in the front of the line for a shot at the World Championship, and reminds the champ he’s “owned” Roman on a number of occasions. Roman says he doesn’t want to beat Rollins…he needs to beat Rollins, and at SummerSlam that’s exactly what he’s gonna do.
That match has been made official
Backstage: Jimmy Uso, Jacob Fatu, Royce Keys
Looks like Jacob Fatu is more loyal to The Bloodline than Royce Keys 😥 pic.twitter.com/dcAtlM3Znz
— WWE (@WWE) July 4, 2026
We go backstage where Royce Keys confronts Jacob Fatu about working for Roman Reigns. Jimmy Uso says that they’re looking for Solo Sikoa and if Royce isn’t going to help out, they’ll handle family business on their own.
Royce says blood doesn’t make you family, but loyalty does. He’s been loyal to Jacob for fourteen years, so they’re family, but Jimmy says not anymore as the two walk off. SmackDown moves on.
In-Ring: Trick Williams, Lil Yachty, Carmelo Hayes
Looks like @Carmelo_WWE and @_trickwilliams are going to RUN IT BACK for the US Title NEXT WEEK! 🇺🇸@lilyachty pic.twitter.com/eB5c96Coy1
— WWE (@WWE) July 4, 2026
Back at ringside, Lil Yachty and Trick Williams make their entrance as a “Whoop that Trick” chant rings throughout the crowd. The pair enter the ring as the chant continues. Before the United States Champion can speak, however, Carmelo Hayes makes his way out to a big pop. The crowd chants “Melo” before Hayes gets into it.
He talks about Ricky Saints not getting the job done at Night of Champions, so now we have no other choice but to run back Hayes and Williams for the title, if Trick is “bout it bout it.”
He acknowledges how well Williams has done, saying he’s been unstoppable…but only because Hayes hasn’t decided to stop him yet. He says he’s made the title mean something, but Trick has turned it into an accessory. He continues to run Trick down until Yachty cuts him off, saying this isn’t the same guy Hayes remembers from NXT.
He understands Melo is looking for a match, asking the crowd if they should give him one. He agrees, saying he’s getting a match next week…but not for the title. Those don’t go out willy nilly, but when things get tricky and Melo loses, he will no longer have any excuses on why he can’t get the job done.
Trick says that Melo is right, he does know Hayes like he knows the back of his hand…which he uses for a backhand slap on Hayes! Melo gets some revenge on the champ on his way out, before we cut backstage.
Backstage: Danhausen, The Miz, Kit Wilson, Matt Cardona
The Judgment Day keep messhausing with @DanhausenAD's experiments 😩 pic.twitter.com/8BVdsCTuum
— WWE (@WWE) July 4, 2026
We see Matt Cardona chat with Danhausen, offering to give some backup in his war against the Judgment Day. Danhausen says he’s already got backup, someone from New York that he needs to pick up. He asks if Cardona wants to help him with an experiment by twisting a knob…and when he does we see some weird lighting as Kit Wilson and The Miz start saying their catchphrases.
Brie Bella vs. Lainey Reid
What a WIN for Lainey Reid and Fatal Influence! 😈 pic.twitter.com/bRrw8Z5aoq
— WWE (@WWE) July 4, 2026
Back at ringside, Brie Bella is accompanied by Paige on her way to the ring for our next match. BRIE MOOOOOOOODE (wopwopwopwop) takes on Lainey Reid up next!
Back from break, Lainey Reid makes her entrance as we take a look at Paige took a win over Jacy Jayne last week. With that, we get this match underway!
Bella goes on the attack early but takes a hard right hand by Reid. Lainey continues to beat down the WWE Hall of Famer, but Brie manages to fight back to her feet before sending Reid to the corner. She sends Lainey to the corner, but Reid quicky turns it around by sending Brie across the ring. Bella fights her off for a missile dropkick, followed by some Yes Kicks before Fatal Influence tries to distract her.
It doesn’t last long as Bella traps Reid in the Yes Lock! Henley tries to help her get out but is pulled away by Paige, who sends Henley to the floor. Jayne blindsides her, and this distracts Brie enough to break the hold to save her friend and fellow tag champ…only to be sent crashing hard by Reid! She brings Brie back into the ring for the cover and the win.
Winner: Lainey Reid via Pinfall.
Reid celebrates her win.
Backstage: Damian Priest, R-Truth, Fraxiom, War Raiders

— WWE (@WWE) July 4, 2026
We cut backstage for…a hot dog eating contest between R-Truth and Nathan Frazer. Truth claims he’s won before Fraxiom walks off…and in comes the War Raiders, the AAA Tag Team Champions looking for their shot at the WWE titles.
Priest doesn’t know when they’re getting their shot after what happened to Aldis, but he’s sure it will be soon…and Truth talks about them losing their masks and luchador status when that day comes. Priest and Truth walk off

— WWE (@WWE) July 4, 2026
Backstage, Finn Balor has a chat with Cody Rhodes. Cody welcomes Finn to SmackDown, but Balor admits he was a little disappointed because he was hoping to face Cody for the title. Go win it back, it starts tonight. Cody thanks him for it before walking off, and in comes Tama Tonga. He tells Finn he talked to “the elders” about what to do next after splitting from Solo Sikoa, and Balor asks what that has to do with him…as Talla Tonga grabs him from behind, slamming him onto a road casse!
Tama tells Finn he’s closing the door on everything from his past, and Balor is next. They walk off as we head to ringside for our main event, with Jey Uso making his entrance before we go to commercial.

The two men lock up but to no avail. They back off as the crowd are chanting for Cody. Jey goes for a superkick but gets caught in a Cross Rhodes before breaking free. They trade offense before Cody gets sent to the outside for a dive by Jey, before we go to commercial.
Jey takes Rhodes to the mat as we come back, only to be met with a Cody Cutter after Cody gets back to his feet. He gets a cover for a two count, bringing Jey back up for a Cross Rhodes…but Jey fights back with a Samoan drop. Cody rolls out of the ring, but is met by Jey who gets sent to the announce table. Cody steps onto the table but gets tripped up by Jey, who heads to the ring to break the ref’s count and set up for a dive…only for Rhodes to cut him off with an uppercut!
He brings Jey to the timekeeper area, beating him down slightly before bringing him back to the ring for a neckbreaker. Both men are down as we go to commercial break.
Back from break, Jey sends Cody to the mat from the turnbuckle before getting the drop on him with an Uso Splash for a nearfall. Cody fights back, landing a Cody Cutter that gets him a two count. He hits the ropes for a Disaster Kick, but jumps into a superkick by Jey for a nearfall.
Uso heads up top, but gets caught by Rhodes who follows up with a Cross Rhodes for the cover…but Jey kicks out at two! Cody heads up the turnbuckle for a splash of his own, but Jey gets the knees up before cradling him for a nearfall.
The two fight their way back to their feet, trading shots back and forth until Jey catches Cody with a sleeper hold. Cody tries to break free with a back suplex, but Jey lands on his feet instead before cinching the hold in back in. Cody breaks free, landing a Cross Rhodes for the win!
Winner: Cody Rhodes via Pinfall.
