As noted before, WWE has been working on “big plans” for Danhausen in relation to the New York Knicks’ recent 2026 NBA Championship victory for their upcoming WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event show on July 18 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. Danhausen is currently scheduled to be facing off against JD McDonagh in a singles match at the show.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported that their sources stated WWE officials has extended invitations to several members of this year’s NBA Champions New York Knicks to attend their upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event show at Madison Square Garden. Those spoken to within WWE reportedly stated that multiple players from the Knicks are currently expected to be in attendance at the show.
In regards to WWE’s current plans for Danhausen, it was reported that WWE officials had previously looked into the possibility of NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson playing a role at their upcoming show with several of those creative pitches involving Danhausen. Those plans reportedly were dropped after WWE was informed that Brunson would be undergoing left wrist surgery and ruled him out of any physical involvement. It was also reported that Brunson had recently undergone the surgery and is currently expected to resume basketball activities later this summer. One WWE source spoken to reportedly stated that they are still hopeful Brunson will attend the show and make an on-screen appearance.
