Evan Husney Comments on Working With Missy Hyatt For Dark Side Of The Ring Season 7
Fightful held a recent interview with Dark Side of the Ring series co-creator and Executive Producer Evan Husney. One of the topics discussed included Husney’s thoughts about working with former wrestler and valet Missy Hyatt for the upcoming episode based on her for season seven of the series.
“It was great. It’s a story that, again, we’d been kicking around a little bit over the years to tell. We had interviewed her, I think for the Buff Bagwell episode a few seasons ago, and we sprinkled in some questions about her story and it was just very compelling. Not only is she a pioneering woman in the industry, who really in her time, she definitely was the most famous woman in wrestling at a particular point in time, and vital in terms of a lot of the storylines and angles that were going on at her peak.
Yeah, you’re 100 % right. She she’s still such a fan and student of wrestling. It feels like she’s always going back and watching wrestling history and brushing up on different areas or countries or things that she hasn’t seen yet before. I knew her story was dark going into it and I knew that she has overcome a lot and she’s been through a lot, whether that was like really intense substance abuse of many different kinds, but also just that the industry always hasn’t treated her in the best way.
She’s been exploited in certain ways. She’s been sort of humiliated. There’s been just horrible things that have happened to her in the business and the business hasn’t always been so kind. So I am, too, surprised that, she still loves the art of wrestling and appreciates it despite all of that. But thankfully she’s here to tell her story and she does a great job. The story is very emotional and gets into her history while also being very fun, looking at her entire ride from Jim Crockett promotions into WCW and even her brief WWF run, which didn’t work out, but just all of that is such a roller coaster ride in and of itself. So I’m glad for people to be able to get a chance to know more to know more about her.”
