As noted before, this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Beach Break 2026 show in Clearwater, Florida featured Kenny Omega defeating MJF to become the new AEW World Champion. This match was notable for featuring the stipulation of if Omega lost, then he would never be allowed to challenge for the AEW World title again in his AEW career.

Fightful Select reported that while there was a talking point that AEW did their World title change on television to “steal thunder” from CM Punk’s Undisputed WWE title win at the July 6th episode of WWE, their sources within AEW stated that this was not the case.

Those same sources spoken to reportedly also stated that AEW officials had made the decision for Omega to win the title on AEW television before Sami Zayn’s Undisputed WWE title win at WWE Night of Champions 2026 even happened.
