Backstage Reaction to CM Punk’s Undisputed WWE Title Win at July 6 WWE RAW Show
As noted before, the July 6th episode of WWE RAW in Rosemont, Illinois featured CM Punk making a surprise return and defeating Sami Zayn to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported in a recent Q&A article that his sources stated that the backstage reaction within WWE over Punk’s Undisputed WWE title win was mostly fine and not anything similar at all to the uproar from online fans.
Sapp reported that had Punk immediately won the title when he came back to WWE in 2023, the reaction likely would have been a lot more negative within WWE’s locker room.
Sapp also reported that there are still some people within WWE who have sour feelings about Punk but most talent just work with him amicably and know he is going to be a big part of the company.
