Will Ospreay Splits From Death Riders Over Not Wanting To Give Kenny Omega The Plastic Bag Attack Treatment, Omega Attacks Ospreay Over Attempted Bag Attack at AEW Redemption

Sunday’s AEW Redemption event at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada featured Will Ospreay officially ending his association with the Death Riders.

Ospreay’s split from the group was initially teased over recent weeks shows over Ospreay being somewhat conflicted about how far he was willing to go to bring out a new more visious and darker side of him for his AEW World title match at All In 2026.

During Ospreay & Jon Moxley’s tag team match against The Young Bucks, Ospreay was once again conflicted over inflicting serious pain and injury to Nick Jackson after Jackson appeared to suffer a “head injury” and dealing with “concussion”-like issues. Moxley held no such reservations and won the match for his team after delivering a couple of Paradigm Shifts and a Death Rider DDT to Jackson to finish him off.

In a follow-up segment, Ospreay was interviewed backstage by Renee Paquette and showed some remorse over what happened to the Young Bucks only for Moxley to show up to interrupt and remind him of him needing to bring out a more vicious side if he wants to win the AEW World title in front of his home country.

Following Kenny Omega defeating “The Jet” Kevin Knight to retain the AEW World Championship, the Death Riders ran out and attacked Omega. This led to the Young Bucks running out to try to save Omega to no avail. After Claudio Castagnoli placed a chair over Omega’s neck and prepared to Pillmanize him, Ospreay ran out and yelled at the Death Riders to leave. Wheeler Yuta attempted to talk with Ospreay to calm him down but this was just a distraction so that Castagnoli could attempt to stomp on Omega’s head. This distraction failed and Ospreay was able to stop Castagnoli in time. Ospreay then grabbed the chair and swung it around causing the Death Riders to leave the ring as Moxley entered. This led to Ospreay being conflicted over whether to hit Moxley or not leading to Moxley being able to grab the chair and tossed it out of the ring.

Moxley told Ospreay that he needs to make the tough decision and pulled out a plastic bag. Moxley then handed the plastic bag to Ospreay who once again became conflicted over to use it on Omega. After giving it some thought and the crowd chanting “No” at him, Ospreay ripped the bag and struck Moxley with a forearm shot. This led to the rest of the Death Riders running into the ring only for Ospreay to clear them all out.

As Moxley and the Death Riders proceeded to leave through the crowd, Ospreay took off his knee pad with the Death Riders logo and tossed it away.

Ospreay then went up to the AEW World title on the mat and picked it up ad Omega managed to get back on his feet and picked up the ripped plastic bag. Ospreay proceeded to hold out the AEW World title to Omega, who tossed away the plastic bag. Omega grabbed his title but Ospreay refused to let go at first before doing so. Omega and Ospreay shook hands and celebrated as a duo to the crowd.

After some more celebrations, Omega grabbed Ospreay from behind and laid him out with a One Winged Angel. Omega looked at the plastic bag and picked it up mouthing off to Ospreay over him taking offense Ospreay even had considered the idea of using it on him. This led to the Young Bucks getting back in the ring and talked with Omega at first before being reluctant to pose with him as Ospreay laid on the mat. Ospreay then told the doctor to check on Ospreay before he left the ring and posed with his AEW World title on the ramp as the show went to a close.
