– WM FACTS:
– Over 60,000 fans were in attendance for Wrestlemania VIII at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana.
– After the Sid/Hogan main event, the Ultimate Warrior made his WWF return after an 8 month absence, as the Warrior made the save for Hogan who was suffering a beat down at the hands of Sid and Papa Shango.
– Lex Luger was introduced to WWF fans by Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, as the WWF used Lex’s apperance as a promotional tool for hyping the infamous WBF, one of Vince’s failed ventures.
– Hulk Hogan’s match up with Sid from Wrestlemania VIII was billed as Hogan’s retirement match up, which like Savage’s retirement at Wrestlemania VII, Hogan returned one year later at Wrestlemania IX to win the WWF title.
– The finish of the Bret/Piper IC title match up was stolen by another equally famous match up featuring the Hitman, as Bret used the same exact finish (using the turnbuckle to counter the Sleeper Hold into a pin) in Bret’s first match up with Stone Cold Steve Austin, at Survivor Series 96.
– Wrestlemania VIII was the Nature Boy, Ric Flair’s only Wrestlemania appearance, and a memorable one it was, as Flair lost the WWF title to Randy Savage in an epic contest.
