Kelani Jordan vs. Kendal Grey for NXT Women’s Title Announced for NXT Heatwave 2026

Tuesday’s WWE NXT show at the Performance Center featured the first of two new matches announced for the card of NXT Heatwave 2026.

This new match announced was a NXT Women’s Championship match of Kelani Jordan vs. Kendal Grey (c).

This new match was setup following an in-ring promo segment involving Kali Armstrong, Jordan, Grey, and Wren Sinclair.

After some words between Armstrong and Jordan over who should get the next shot at Grey’s NXT Women’s title, Grey with a bandaged wrapped ear came out to the ring with Sinclair. Grey handed Jordan a match contract saying that she can get the next shot. As Jordan was signing the math contract, Armstrong got upset over getting passed over and Grey responded stating that she can have the next shot. After Jordan signed the contract to make it official, she stated that since Grey was hurt, she won’t be having her match this week nor would she want it to take place next week in front of this ungrateful crowd and instead it will take place at NXT’s biggest show of the summer … Heatwave.

After some more words from Jordan and Grey, Armstrong attacked Grey laying her out leading to a brawl breaking out with Sinclair and Jordan that ended with Armstrong and Jordan laying out Sinclair and the two standing tall.

Rey Fenix To Defend His AAA Cruiserweight Title at Aug. 25th Show

Tuesday’s WWE NXT show also featured the announcement of AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix to make an appearance and defend his title at the August 25th WWE NXT show.

During the show, NXT GM Robert Stone was seen in his office talking to AAA GM Rey Mysterio on the phone about the two brands working relationship. Stone stated that he liked Mysterio’s idea of Fenix coming to NXT to defend his AAA Cruiserweight title and propsosed for this match to take place in two weeks. Stone continued stating that next week’s show will feature a #1 Contender Fatal Four-way with Mysterio and Stone picking EK Prosper and La Parka to be two of the four competitors.

Wren Sinclair vs. Zaria for NXT Women’s N.A. & WWE Speed Women’s Titles Unification Match Announced for NXT Heatwave 2026

Tuesday’s WWE NXT show also featured the second of two new matches announced for the card of NXT Heatwave 2026.

NXT Women’s North American Championship and WWE Speed Women’s Championship Unification match of Zaria (NXT Women’s North American) vs. Wren Sinclair (WWE Women’s Speed).

This new match was setup following a backstage segment involving NXT GM Robert Stone, NXT Women’s Champion Kendal Grey, and Sinclair. Sinclair asked Stone to give her another chance at Zaria’s NXT Women’s North American title since she felt she could have won it earlier had it not been for the outside distractions involving DarkStake and EK Prosper. Sinclair offered to sweeten the deal stating that she would put her WWE Speed Women’s title on the line to make it a unification match. This was enough for Stone to agree to the match to make it official.

Zilla Fatu Makes Surprise NXT Debut

Tuesday’s WWE NXT show also featured former indies talent Zilla Fatu making his surprise debut in NXT.

During the #1 Contender’s match for the NXT Championship between Cruz Montana and Grayson Waller, Fatu ran out from the crowd and attacked both guys resulting in the referee calling for the bell. Fatu proceeded to lay out both guys with Samoan Splashes and then turned his attention towards NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo, who was seated at the commentary table, and told him that the new champion has arrived.

Current Card for Next Week’s WWE NXT Show

Tuesday’s WWE NXT show also featured four new matches announced for the card of next week’s show on August 18 at Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

Among the notable new matches was a singles match of Shiloh Hill vs. Jackson Drake which features a special stipulation.

This new match was setup following a backstage segment involving NXT GM Robert Stone, The Vanity Project, Myles Borne, and Tavion Heights. Stone stated that Drake can get a shot at the Borne’s NXT North American title at Heatwave and The Vanity Project can get a shot at Borne and Heights’ NXT Tag titles at Heatwave as well. Stone also stated that if Drake loses, then Vanity Project loses everything.
