CM Punk Reflects on His Undisputed WWE Title Loss To Sami Zayn at Sept. 11th WWE SmackDown Show

As noted before, Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Mexico City, Mexico featured Sami Zayn defeating CM Punk to become the Undisputed WWE Champion for the second time in his WWE career.

Following the show, CM Punk reflected on Instagram Stories about his loss to Zayn for the Undisputed WWE title and his reign as champion being over.

“I lost. 67 day undisputed title run. At 47. I’d like to say that I did it on purpose for my boy @wwejevonevans but nobody wants to lose. Here’s the thing: Winners lose way more than losers do. I don’t have to try again. I get to try again. I didn’t have to come to Mexico. I don’t HAVE to do house shows. I get to. I get to wrestle in front of the best fans in the world in Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City. I don’t have to get the title back. I get to try to get the title back. I don’t HAVE to come to work. I GET TO COME TO WORK. So I’ll SEE you all in Corpus Christi. I will get MY title back. You don’t have to watch. You get to.

BITW”

Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan reported that his sources stated that Bobby Roode and Shawn Daivari were the producers of Punk and Zayn’s match at the show.

WWE Releases Unaired Backstage Segment From Sept. 11th WWE SmackDown Show

WWE released a digital exclusive video featuring an unaired backstage segment from Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Mexico City, Mexico.

This unaired segment featured Blake Monroe being seen in SmackDown GM Nick Aldis’ office and handed him a small bag that she claimed were her teeth that were knocked out when she was attacked by Giulia recently.

This segment also featured The Miz being shown in a planking position similar to what Johnny Gargano had been doing for months on SmackDown shows.

Kit Wilson was also shown arguing with Aldis that The Miz should receive a championship opportunity similar to Gargano. Aldis responded back stating that it was CM Punk who gave Gargano his title shot and not him at last week’s show.

Chelsea Green Listed As WWE Women’s Champion On WWE’s Website

As noted before, WWE’s SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 event earlier this month in Minneapolis, Minnesota featured Chelsea Green becoming the new Interim WWE Women’s Champion. This belt was created due to WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley has been out of action since this past May due to a meniscus tear injury and surgery.

Prior to the start of Friday’s WWE SmackDown show, WWE’s preview page for the show had listed Green as defending her Interim Women’s title against Nia Jax. During the show itself, Green’s entrance name plate had listed her as being the “WWE Women’s Champion” and did not include the interim tag.

WWE recently updated the official title page for the WWE Women’s Championship that now lists Green as being the current champion and Ripley’s title reign as having officially ended on August 2, which is the day Green had won the Interim title.
