Lizzy Rain vs. Kali Armstrong

You know, one day people are going to realize that the 80’s heavy metal thing wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I was there. Anyways, this match is about how they both keep interrupting each other in interviews. Armstrong has Titles on her mind, but Rain likes to pose and rock out which might help? Maybe? Any way, This match will either keep Armstrong on her championship trajectory or give Rain a chance to step past her in the race to NXT gold.

Armstrong took control off the top with an arm drag and a scoop slam. Rain drove Armstrong to the ropes and hit her with a springboard back elbow, followed by a fisherperson’s suplex. She continued working the arm, trying to take away Armstrong’s power.

Rain went for a rollup while Commentary discussed the upcoming Money in the Bank PLE, featuring neither of these wrestlers. Rain hit a spin kick and she rolled up Armstrong for two. Armstrong reveresed an Irish whip into the corner and then ran it back with a charge, but Rain moved and Armstrong went tumbling to the outside where Rain dove onto her.

Rain threw Armstrong back into the ring and went up top, but Armstrong knocked her down. She stomped Rain in the corner and sent her off the ropes for a knee to the gut. Armstrong hit a clothesline from the second rope for a two count. She started throwing jabs at Rain and put her in an abdominal stretch.

Rain got out of it and started a comeback with kicks and punches. Armstron put an end to it with a sidewalk slam and a spinebuster for two. When Rain kicked out, Booker T exclaimed “What the hell!?” as if he’d never seen a kickout before, which was actually kinda funny.

Rain tried to steal one with a backslide but no dice. Armstrong ate a kick to the face and then another fisherperson’s suplex. Rain started “making it rain” with chops in the corner and then countered a powerslam into a cutter for two. Rain set Armstrong up on the turnbuckle and hit a superrana.

Rain connected with a head butt off the ropes and went for Thunderstruck, but Armstrong took her down with the Kali Connection shoulder and that was it. Armstrong gets the victory.

Winner: Kali Armstrong via Pinfall.

After the match, Skylar Raye returned and went after Armstrong. Security broke it up and we transitioned to Grayson Waller on a treadmill for no reason.

Backstage: Sean Legacy, Dorian Van Dux, Birthright

Then we caught up with Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux in the NXT Lunchroom Playset. They were warming up for their match when Birthright showed up and said that they were going to take out any team that got in the way of them getting Tag Team gold. Then Van Dux and Legacy left for their match that I’m sure will not include any interference from Birthright.

Backstage: Robert Stone, Cruz Montana, EK Prosper, The Vanity Project

Back from break, in the Robert Stone Office Playset, Cruz Montana and EK Prosper were talking about how they lost last week when Vanity Project came in and talked some trash. Montana suggested the he and EK take them on tonight, which Stone, never one to not jump on someone else’s idea, agreed to.

DarkState (Cutler James & Osiris Griffin) vs. Sean Legacy & Dorian Van Dux

The second most important thing in wresting (next to paperwork/contracts) is on the line in this match: Momentum. Momentum of the tag team viarety as DarkState’s Griffin and James test their mettle against Legacy and Van Dux. There are a ton of tag teams looking to stake their claim for an NXT Tag Team Championship match at the moment, so a win for either of these teams would be a big step forward.

James and Legacy started things off with Cutler taking control and sending Legacy to the corner. Legacy came back with a dropkick, but James picked him up and threw him. Legacy went off the turnbuckle and countered an armdrag into a sliced bread. He tagged in DVD and then Griffin came in and knocked them both down.

Griffin threw DVD to the mat with a powerslam and then whipped him into the corner for a splash. DVD tried to catch him with an arm drag but Griffin blocked it. DVD then started throwing hands until Griffin was on the mat. DVD hit him with a clothesline off the ropes and tagged in Legacy.

They double teamed Griffin with a double back body drop. They went for a double suplex, but Griffin countered it into a double suplex the other way. James came in and they charged, but DVD and Legacy dodged it and they flew to the outside. DVD and Legacy followed, but Griffin and James beat them down.

Back in the ring, James pulled DVD into the corner where he and Griffin double teamed him. DVD got a diving tag to Legacy who came in and was immediately crushed by Griffin. James came in and slammed him for a two count. James hit a clothesline and then whipped Legacy into the corner.

Griffin tagged in and cut off Legacy from making a tag. Griffin hit a Vader Bomb on Legacy and they double teamed him with a double backbreaker. Legacy came back with an open handed chop but James responded with an uppercut. James sent Legacy to the outside where he pulled Griffin off the apron.

James came after him and Legacy went back into the ring to tag in DVD who hit a springboard crossbody. DVD hit a double cutter on Griffin and James from the top rope, but only got a two count. Grayson Waller was shown picture in picture still on the treadmill.

DVD hit a couble moonsault on Griffin and James, sending them to the outside where Legacy dove through the ropes on them repeatedly. DVD hit an Asai moonsault on Griffin and threw him back into the ring. He went up top and hit a shooting star press, but James broke up the cover.

Suddenly, Dion Lennox arrived and clocked DVD on the outside. He sent him back into the ring where Griffin and James hit a double powerbomb to pick up the win.

Winner: DarkState via Pinfall.

After the match, Brithright showed up and said that everyone should pay attention to what they did to Zilla Fatu. They re-stated that they were going to take out anyone who got in the way of their tag team ambitions and beat up LEgacy and DVD. But that brought Zilla Fatu running out who cleared the ring of Birthright until Charlie Dempsey jumped him. DVD and Legacy tried to help and the brawl moved, leaving Dempsey alone in the ring so Fatu could hit him with the samoan spike.

Backstage: Robert Stone, Skylar Raye, Myles Borne

More footage of Grayson Waller on the treadmill was shown before the scene switched to Robert Stone and Skylar Raye in the NXT Warehouse Playset. Miles Borne showed up and asked if Robert Stone had allotted sufficient time for his apology to Tavion Heights. Stone said he had and Borne headed for the ring.

Backstage: Zaria, Izzi Dame

In the NXT Medical Playset, Zaria was having her arm looked at by a doctor for some reason. Izzi Dame wandered in and asked if people were born wicked, which seemed to upset Zaria and she stormed off.

In-Ring: Myles Borne, Tavion Heights

In the ring, Miles Borne was waiting with a mic. He called Tavion Heights to the ring and so he came. Heights said that brother fight sometimes, but what Borne did was over the line. Borne said that he was sorry and that he jumped the gun and let his emotions get to him. Borne said that he acted out of fear and he’s not proud of what he did and that he’s sorry.

Heights said that he appreciated the apology, but he is still hurting from Borne’s betrayal. Heights said that Borne kicked him when he was down and Borne abandoned him. Borne reminded him of when he did something similar to him at the Great American Bash. Borne said he forgave Heights then and when they are together, no one can stop them.

Borne then asked Heights to forgive him. Heights said that maybe he could have handled it better. Borne said that he loves Heights like a brother and Heights began to tear up. He said that he forgives Borne and wants to get things rolling again. Then they hugged it out.

Then Borne hit Heights with a Borne Again and threw him through the ropes and into the NXT LED Barricades. He tossed Heights back into the ring and pulled a chair from underneath. He put Heights ankle in the chair and stomped it. Staff came down to help Heights and send Borne to the back.

Back from break we joined Wren Sinclair and Kendal Grey in a doctors office. The doctor came in and told Kendal that her problem was simple: Trauma. The doctor continued violating patient confidentiatlity and said that Grey would not be cleared and should see a shrink for her mental health.

Cruz Montana & EK Prosper vs. The Vanity Project (Ricky Smokes & Brad Baylor)

This match was made earlier in the NXT Robert Stone’s Office Playset when Vanity Project, Montana and Prosper all occupied the same space, so naturally a tag mat came out of it. If Montana and Prosper had known losing would have meant they had to wrestle Vanity Project, maybe the’d have worked harder. Also, why no Keanu Carver? Is he too busy looming over Robert Stone somewhere?

Prosper and Baylor started things off at a quick pace, with prosper getting a dropkick in. Prosper ran up the turnbuckles and hit another one on Smokes before Montana and Baylor tagged in. Smokes tried to overpower Montana, but no dice. He kicked him in the stomach and that seemed to work, but Montana came back with a bunch of chops.

Montana hit a rolling cutter on Smokes for a two count and then whipped him over to the corner where Prosper tagged in and scoop slammed Smokes. Baylor tried to help, but Montana cut him off and sent him to the outside.

Back in the ring, Montana and Prosper keopt control with Prosper sending Smokes to the corner for a massive chop from Montana. Baylor tagged in and took down Montana for some stomping. Smokes tagged in and hit Montana with a big boot for two. They traded quick tags, with splashes and stomps on Montana as the result.

Baylor started thrusting his hips which seemed to really offend commentary as Montana started a comeback. It was short lived though as Smokes and Baylor hit him with a double team. Smokes grabbed a headlock, but Montana punched his way out of it. Smokes knocked Prosper off the apron and Montana rolled him up for two.

Smokes tried to dodge Montana off the ropes, but Montana caught him with a death valley driver. Prosper made it back to the corner and Montana got him a hot tag. Baylor came in and Prosper hit them both with a double dropkick. Smokes went tothe outside and EK hit a moonsault off the second rope on Baylor.

Prosper went up top for a blockbuster on Baylor, but only got a two count. Prosper went for a stomp from up top, but Baylor dodged it and tagged in Smokes who speared Prosper. Prosper got back up and hit a shining wizard on Smokes. He and Montana went up top with Smokes and Prosper hit him with a super rana.

Montana sent Baylor to the outside and Prosper sent Smokes and they dove on them both. Then Jackson Drake showed up and clocked Montana to get himseld and Lockwood thrown out.

Back in the ring, Smokes went for a cover on Prosper with a handful of tights but missed. He tried again with a backslide and Baylor held Prosper’s legs out of view of the ref so that they could get the three count and the victory.

Winner: The Vanity Project via Pinfall.

Backstage: Saquon Shugars, Tristan Angels

Backstage, Saquon Shugars was incoherently interviewed. It made no sense, as did Tristan Angels wandering in to complain about Zilla Fatu. He fact-of-the-mattered Shugars, saying he was the only one deserving of the NXT Title. Shugars said a bunch of catchprases and then more footage of Grayson Waller on the treadmill aired.

In-Ring: Kelani Jordan, La Catalina, Zaria, Thea Hail

Back from break, NXT Women’s Champion came to the ring to tell us how she struggled, was under-appreciated, is the best and sets the standard, etc. She mentioned that Wren Sinclair got herself suspended and that there’s no one in the locker room who can step up to her, which of course brought out new AAA Reina de Reinas champion La Catalina to step up to her.

Catalina congratulated Jordan on her rise to the top and said that she was here to take Women’s wrestling to the next level. That conjured NXT Women’s North American Champion Zaria who came out to say she was the most dominant champion in NXT because she unified the Speed and North American titles.

They all then agrued about who was interrupting who until Thea Hail interrupted them to say that it’s about time someone talked about her. Hail said that she may be young, but she’s proved she’s championship material. No one liked that, so they brawled. Catalina and Hail formed an alliance and hit double hip attacks and then double dancing. Then the segment ended, accomplishing absolutely nothing.

Back from break, Shiloh Hill posted a TikTok about the poison mist. He’s running a lot of tests in his shed to see what the different colors do. He then tested a yellow mist that totally didn’t look like pee on himself and said he felt pretty normal. But then a totally not AI Raccoon family started talking to him, so I want whatever’s in that mist.

Backstage: Robert Stone, Creed Brothers

In the Robert Stone’s Office Playset, Robert Stone announced his new plan for the Tag Team Division: He’s bringing back the Dusty Classic, with teams from AAA, Raw, Smackdown, Evolve and NXT. Again, Robert Stone takes someone else’s idea and turns it into an announcement. The Creeds overheard this and came in to say that they wanted in. Stone told them to wait to see the brackets.

NXT Championship #1 Contender’s Triple Threat Match
Saquon Shugars vs. Tony D’Angelo vs. Mason Rook

After winning a six-man tag team match last week, teammates turn to rivals as Mason Rook, Tony D’Angelo, and Saquon Shugars enter into this Triple Threat Match to determine the rightful #1 Contender to Grayson Waller’s NXT Championship (assuming he ever gets off the treadmill). Last week, in said six-man match, Rook stole a blind tag and scored the pinfall even though D’Angelo’waas about to do it. Rude. There’s also the other three participants of last week’s match (Cruz Montana, EK Prosper and Keanu Carver) who might be looking to cause trouble next to that balcony area where everyone gets speared through the wall.

The match started with a healthy dose of trash talk that got Shugars sent to the outside. Rook and D’Angelo rolled around until D’Angelo caught Rook with a spear off the ropes. He then dove through the ropes onto Shugars on the outside. They got back in the ring and Shugars used a headscissor to take D’Angelo down.

Rook came back in to clothesline D’Angelo and then give Shugars a powerslam. He then powerslammed D’Angelo, powerslammed Shugars onto D’Angelo and then sentoned them both.

Shugars came back with a high knee to Rook, but got German suplexed by D’Angelo. Shugars grabbed onto Rook and D’Angelo suplexed them both at the same time, which was objectively, pretty cool.

Rook came back with a hard shot and slam to D’Angelo before going up top. Shugars met him there and the D’Angelo grabbed them both from underneath and powerbombed both men, which was objectively, also pretty cool.

Shugars tried a sunset flip on D’Angelo but no joy. D’Angelo sent Shugars into the ringpost and went under the ring looking for a chair. He found one, but Shugars knocked him down and took it. He went’ to jump off of it but it broke. Rook caught him with a superkick and D’Angelo threw Rook back into the ring.

D’Angelo grabbed a sleeper on Rook. Shugars came back in and grabbed a sleeper on D’Angelo who was still holding Rook. Rook backed everyone into the corner and then went off the ropes to crossbody D’Angelo. D’Angelo shoved him into Shugars who went for a rollup on Rook but only got two.

Shugars clubbed D’Angelo in the corner and then Rook backdropped him to the apron. Rook got caught by a drop te from Shugars who then dropped a leg on him for two. Shugars wanted to go up top, but Rook grabbed his leg and sent him to the corner where Rook and D’Angelo hit stereo splashes.

D’Angelo suplexed Rook for a two count but Shugars caught him with a backslide. The ref saw a foot on the ropes and called off the count. Shugars went up top and D’Angelo grabbed him and threw him into Rook, who got a two count off of it.

Rook and D’Angelo traded shots in the middle of the ring until D’Angelo snuck in a knee and then he sent them both over the top rope. Rook tried to sent D’Angelo into the stairs, but Shugars jumped off of Rook to hit D’Angelo. He threw D’Angelo back into the ring where Rook hit him with a cannonball.

Shugars hit Rook with a tornado DDT and went up top to hit the reverse frog splash on D’Angelo. Tristan Angels then ran in to break up the count. Shugars dove onto him and they brawled. In the ring, D’Angelo’s back gave out on a suples and Rook hit a Blue Thunder Bomb before going up top and splashing D’Angelo for 1-2-3 and the victory to become #1 Contender.

Winner: Mason Rook via Pinfall.

Instantly, Grayson Waller’s music played and he ran out all sweaty and waved the title belt in Rook’s face.
