Big Cass made his official return to WWE this past August. Prior to his return, Cass had been rumored to be reuniting with Enzo Amore, also known as Real1 and nZo in the indies, as part of WWE’s interest in bringing both back as a tag team.
Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that WWE officials initial plans for Amore and Cass was to keep the two seperate instead of bringing them back as a tag team.
Meltzer reported that those spoken to had stated that there were talks within WWE of Amore being sent to the NXT brand for his return. Meltzer also reported that the reason why WWE officials wanted to keep them apart for their potential returns was due to the belief that Cass’ upside would have been very limited if they put together as a tag team.
Meltzer speculated that based on Cass’ recent booking and his current spot, him reuniting with Amore and working as a tag team might not be the worst thing for him in terms of his star status in WWE. Meltzer also speculated that Cass wouldn’t need Amore for his current storyline of beating up smaller guys all by himself.
