Kevin Knight on Steven Borden’s Head Injury At AEW All Out 2026 & Revealed He Spent The Night In Hospital With Borden After Injury

As noted before, Steven Borden suffered a serious head injury at this past September’s AEW All Out 2026 event in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. AEW had provided updates throughout the show stating that Borden was conscious and responsive at the hospital and AEW CEO Tony Khan had stated during the post-show scrum that the CT scan and all medical tests for Borden came back good. Tony Schiavone had recently revealed that Borden is currently feeling fine after a talk he had with him.

ClutchPoints held a recent interview with Kevin Knight. One of the topics discussed included Knight’s thoughts about the double Coast-to-Coast spot he had with Borden and how he and Borden had discussed and rehearsed the spot beforehand. Knight also revealed that he had spent the night in the hospital with Borden after Borden suffered the injury.

“As a human, it was just checking on him, making sure he’s okay. Obviously, you never want things like that to happen in your own match, especially when you’re involved with it. So it was just making sure that he’s okay. You know, I spent the night at the hospital with him. He was perfectly fine. It was just a scary bump, a scary risk. But yeah, it was not an ideal situation. But we’re gonna bounce back from it, and you know I’m excited to see what Steve has to offer more, you know, come into the future. Pretty sure he’s gonna bounce back.  We talked about it and everything. We walked it through. But, just like I said, just with anything, stepping through the ropes, walking on the stairs, hitting the ropes, taking any kind of bump, you’re risking your life anytime you’re doing any of those things. So it was just a freak accident, and Steve is a trooper, so I’m sure he’ll come back better than ever.

I was in the hospital room with him all night, and we were having conversations, talking, you know, just how we’re gonna piggyback off of this and how we can make a situation out of this. How can we, you know, see the opportunity in this tragedy type of thing? So it was obvious in this business: things happen, and it sucks that it happened, but you just have to pivot and learn from them and grow.”
