Tuesday’s NJPW Power Struggle 2026 event at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall in Hiroshima, Japan featured one new potential match for the card of Wrestle Kingdom 21.

This new potential match is a singles match of Callum Newman vs. Will Ospreay.

This new match was initially setup over recent months shows over Newman’s bad blood issues with Ospreay and him wanting Ospreay to fall in line under his leadership of the United Empire. During the IWGP Tag Team Championship match between United Empire (Callum Newman & Will Ospreay) and Knockout Brothers (OSKAR & Yuto-Ice), Newman and Ospreay accidentally struck each other and bickered over Newman wanting to take the cheap way out and Ospreay wanting to win the titles fairly. This eventually led to Newman attempting to strike Ospreay with a chair only to hit OSKAR by mistake when Ospreay dodged it. This led to the referee calling for the bell and a brawl breaking out between OSKAR and Newman that ended after Newman laid out OSKAR with a chair shot again.

A furious Ospreay confronted Newman over him costing them teh change to win the tag titles that resulted in the two brawling as the rest of United Empire got into the ring to separate them. Francesco Akira attempted to play peace maker only for Newman to lay him out. After some more tussling, an angry Newman left the ring and issued a challenge to Ospreay for leadership of United Empire at Wrestle Kingdom 21.

Kenny Omega Challenges Yota Tsuji for IWGP Heavyweight Title at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 21

NJPW’s Power Struggle 2026 event also featured another new potential match for the card of Wrestle Kingdom 21.

This new potential match was an IWGP Heavyweight Championship match of Kenny Omega vs. Yota Tsuji (c).

This new potential match was setup following Omega defeating Tsuji and Boltin Oleg in a Three-way match and pinned Tsuji for the victory. After the match, Omega grabbed a microphone and talked about the stipulation he had for the match about if he won, he would get a shot at Tsuji’s IWGP Heavyweight title at Wrestle Kingdom 21. Omega stated that if Tusji has no more challengers then he was calling his shot and officially challenging him for the title at Wrestle Kingdom 21.

Unbound Co. Wins Super Jr. Tag League 2026, Mistico Vacates IWGP Jr. Tag Titles, 3-Way Jr. Tag Titles Match Set for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 21

NJPW’s Power Struggle 2026 event also featured Unbound Co. (Taiji Ishimori & Robbie X) defeating Ichiban Sweet Boys (Robbie Eagles & Kosei Fujita) in the Finals of the Super Junior Tag League to become the winners of this year’s tournament.

Following the match, one half of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Mistico came out to the ring. Mistico informed Ishimori and Robbie X that as a result of El Desperado’s current injury situation, him and El Desperado will be unable to defend their titles at Wrestle Kingdom 21. Mistico then officially vacated the titles and attempted to hand it over to Ishimori and Robbie X who refused. Ishimori grabbed a microphone and asked Ichiban Sweet Boys if they wanted a shot at the titles at Wrestle Kingdom and officially announced a Three-way match for the vacant titles between them, Ichiban Sweet Boys, and Mistico and a partner of his choosing.

IWGP Global Title Match and Moxley vs. Shingo Takagi Set for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 21

NJPW’s Power Struggle 2026 event also featured another two new matches set for Wrestle Kingdom 21, which takes place on January 4, 2027 at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.

The first new match was an IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship match of Yuya Uemura vs. Gabe Kidd (c).

The second new match was a singles match of Jon Moxley vs. Shingo Takagi.

These two new matches were setup following Kidd defeating Taichi in the main event to retain his IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. Following the match, Kidd grabbed a microphone and demanded for NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi to put the belt around his waist. Tanahashi got in the ring and attempted to hand the belt over to Kidd who refused and kept his arms up waiting for Tanahashi to put it around his waist, which he eventually did. Kidd then attacked Tanahashi laying him out and took off the belt chucking it out of the ring. This led to Yuya Uemura running out to save Tanahashi and cleared the ring of Kidd. Uemura then issued a challenge to Kidd for his IWGP Global Heavyweight title at any place and anywhere. As Uemura was preoccupied with Kidd, Moxley ran out and attacked Uemura laying him out with a Death Rider. This then led to Shingo Takagi running out to save Umemura and Tanahashi to no avail after Kidd got back in the ring and helped Moxley beat down Takagi.

Moxley grabbed the microphone and told Tanahashi that he needs to earn their respect and they don’t have time for him now. Kidd responded stating that the Death Riders have declared war on New Japan. Moxley finished stating that they will see both Takagi and Uemura respectively at Wrestle Kingdom.
