WWE Publicly Announces Cable Network, Lawler Note, More

— WWE aired a commercial this week during the RAW Supershow touting the debut of the WWE Channel in 2012. Though WWE has publicly discussed the venture in stockholder conference calls, this was the first public disclosure of the cable network to the viewing audience.

The advertisement featured a wide variety of WWE footage, from the Bruno Sammartino era in the sixties, to today.

— As noted before, Jerry Lawler will team with Dory Funk Jr. and Colby Weston at Funk’s !BANG! TV tapings on September 10th in Ocala, Florida. Lawler will also special referee a match with Hollywood Heather vs. Claudia Reiff.

— NWA Hollywood has issued the following press release about the promotion changing its timeslot: Hollywood/Santa Ana, CA (September 5, 2011) – Starting Saturday, September 17th, NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood on KDOC Los Angeles will be moving from 11:00PM to earlier in the afternoon at 4:00! “I’m very happy with this move because it allows us a great lead in with SEC College Sports (football or basketball depending on the season), more hours to promote our Sunday events and will allow younger fans to watch us because we’ll be on earlier,” said Executive Producer, David Marquez.
