The early numbers are in according to TVByTheNumbers.com and the approximate amount of viewers for UFC: Velasquez vs. dos Santos is 4.64 million viewers. During the same hour (9pm, eastern), a college football game between Oregon and Stanford (ABC) did 7.11 viewers and a rerun of NCIS on CBS did a 5.50 million.
The UFC show had 2.4 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic, second only to the college football game for the night on network television.
The UFC and Fox unofficially expected their broadcast to break the record held by the Kimbo Slice/James Thompson fight which pulled in over 6 million viewers three years ago. Obviously this is disappointing.
Additional ratings information will be known over the next 48 hours.
