Current plans calls for the new WWE Superstars show on WGN America to be taped on both Monday and Tuesday nights. Basically, it’s unlikely that the show will receive its own slot for one-night tapings similar to how ECW is taped on Mondays or Tuesdays each week.
As noted earlier, all three brands will be represented on the program. Matches featuring Raw talent will be taped on Monday nights with matches featuring SmackDown talent being taped on Tuesday nights. Matches featuring ECW talent will be interspersed on both nights.
While plans could always change, it is unlikely that the program will have its own broadcast team. Rather, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler will call matches involving Raw talent that are taped on Monday, with Todd Grisham and Jim Ross calling matches involving SmackDown brand wrestlers. Josh Mathews and Matt Striker will also call matches involving wrestlers from ECW.
On another note, it is unclear whether the show will feature interbrand matches (such as Sim Snuka vs. Kung Fu Naki, DJ Gabriel vs. Ezekiel Jackson, and Ricky Ortiz vs. Dolph Ziggler) or if the matches will only pit talent on the same brand. We should have a better understanding of what WWE has in mind for the program following the television tapings this week.
