Edge Says He Likely Would Have Retired This Year

Edge recently spoke about his Hall of Fame speech, when he would have retired if he hadn’t suffered his neck injury and more while promoting his WWE Studios film. Check out the highlights:

On what’s more stressful: Headlining WrestleMania or Being inducted into the Hall of Fame: “I don’t know. (laughs) Ask me after the speech. It’s one of those things, I haven’t really thought about it.”

On his Hall of Fame speech: “When I do interviews obviously I think about it because I’m talking about it, but I haven’t thought about what I’m going to say, I haven’t thought about anything like that. I might just go wing it and just try to have a list in my mind of who I want to thank, because there’s a lot of people that really helped me along the way, so I want to make sure I give them their props.”

On whether he would have retired this year if he hadn’t been forced to after last year’s WrestleMania: “I think so, yeah, because I felt the things that my body was doing, so I knew that it was telling me, ‘Okay, dude, you’re getting close here.’ I never wanted to be that guy that a young guy would look at on a paper or on a run sheet and say, ‘Oh, man, I gotta wrestle him, crap, I gotta do all the work here.’ I never wanted to be that guy. I wanted to go out when I could still go, and also contribute to the show too and help along the way. I really do feel like this would have been my last WrestleMania. My contract is up in WrestleMania, so I wanted to see that through working wise, and that bothered me that I didn’t get to do that. That’s the one thing that stuck with me, work ethic or stubbornness or whatever it was, but the decision was taken from me. If it were up to me, I would have tried to see the year through.”
