Saturday marked the ten year anniversary of the death of Owen Hart. He was the youngest of twelve children to Helen and Stu Hart. He fell to his death in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday, May 23, 1999 during the World Wrestling Federation’s “Over The Edge” pay-per-view event when a stunt where he was supposed to be lowered into the ring from the rafters went wrong. Hart fell 78 feet (24 m) into the ring, landing chest-first on the top rope near a corner. Owen had just celebrated his 34th birthday a couple weeks before, and is survived by his wife and two children.
Afa Anoa’i, Jr.’s (a.k.a. Manu) 90-day no-compete clause as a result of his release from World Wrestling Entertainment on Monday, February 23, 2009 has expired, so he is now free to work anywhere at his discretion.
Today is WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter’s birthday. He turns 61 years old.
