WWE taped the first edition of Saturday Morning Slam in Bakersfield, CA.
Josh Mathews and Santino Marella are the announcers.
They taped one bout, with Brodus Clay defeating Curt Hawkins following a T-Bone Tazplex and splash. Hawkins mocked Clay’s dancing early on and then worked over his bad knee.
The show closed with Marella, Clay and the Funkettes dancing with kids in the ring.
It should be noted that last week prior to SmackDown, they taped Alex Riley defeating Jinder Mahal, Mahal was in control for most of the match until Riley rolled him up for the pin.
They also had Kofi Kingston defeat Heath Slater. There were several high-flying moves from Kingston. Kofi won with the flying body press off the top rope.
No word on if those matches will still air or if they re-shot the entire show at the SmackDown tapings this week. It’s also possible they’ve already shot a few weeks worth of the show. We shall see.
