— WWE Studios’ latest film is getting a name change. Shock Till You Drop reports that the film, which up to now was known as The Hive, will now release under the name The Call.
The film stars Halle Berry, Abigail Breslin, Michael Eklund and Morris Chestnut, with WWE talent David Otunga in a supporting role. In the film, emergency call center operator Jordan (Halle Berry) takes a call from Casey (Abigail Breslin), a teenage girl who has been abducted and carried away in the trunk of a car. The kidnapping plays out in real time as Jordan and Casey work together to track down the killer. The film hits theaters on March 8th, 2013.
— The final WWE SmackDown of 2012, which aired on Friday, December 28, did a 1.86 (1.9) cable rating. The overall rating was up a bit from the 1.81 ratings at the end of November and the start of December prior to the Tuesday night special. The broadcast averaged 2.66 million viewers.
For cable TV on Friday night, SmackDown ranked #5 and #3 among males 18-34 & 18-49 behind ESPN college football bowl games. For the 8PM hour, SmackdDwn ranked #1 in the demos.
