More On Colt Cabana’s WWE Tryouts + NXT Updates, More

— The WWE NXT and FCW websites have been closed and now redirect to a new NXT section on WWE.com.

— Speaking of WWE NXT, the next set of TV tapings will take place on July 11th, 2013 in Winter Park, FL. Dolph Ziggler is scheduled to appear.

— ORIGINAL: According to sources, Colt Cabana recently had two tryouts with WWE. The tryouts were set up by his friend CM Punk and were for a color commentator position.

Prior to his release from WWE as “Scotty Goldman”, he was a commentator in WWE developmental.

UPDATE: In an update on this, the first Colt Cabana WWE tryout happened in very late 2012 and the second took place more recently in late February. The Colt Cabana interview on the CM Punk DVD got someone in WWE interested in him again as they thought he did a good job and came off well on the documentary. We have confirmed that CM Punk was one of the guys who sent “feelers” to WWE management about giving him another look but wasn’t the main reason he received the second tryout. WWE management then brought him in for another look as a commentator. As noted, Cabana has done announcing in the past for WWE when he was signed to a developmental deal. Nothing ever came of the tryouts ….. for now. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
