Various: WWE’s Blu-Ray Future in Doubt? Hulk Hogan & NJPW, Indies

Rumor: WWE’s Blu-Ray Future in Doubt; All Past Releases Discontinued

WWE’s home video distributor, Warner Bros, is rumored to have discontinued all manufacturing support for previously released WWE Blu-ray titles, according to WrestlingDVDNetwork.

WrestlingDVDNetwork reported that Warner Bros recently pulled most, if not all, of WWE’s released Blu-ray titles out of print and will no longer be making any new copies. At the moment, it is not known if Warner Bros also pulled all support for future WWE Blu-ray releases with only WrestleMania 34’s Blu-ray status expected to be revealed soon.

The current status of WWE’s DVD releases is not expected to change due to WWE having better success with sales on the platform than with Blu-ray in recent years.

NJPW’s Plans and Talks With Hulk Hogan for Special Appearance Dropped Due to Hogan’s Demands

Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso reported that New Japan Pro Wrestling originally had plans for Hulk Hogan to make an appearance at last month’s Wrestle Kingdom 12 event but talks between the two sides fell apart due to Hogan asking for too much money. Hogan was reported to have demanded $750,000 for the one time appearance which was a lot higher than NJPW was comfortable paying.

Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

While WrestleCon announced last week that Kenny Omega would be making an appearance at their SuperShow on April 5th, Highspots Network recently revealed Omega will be teaming together with Kota Ibushi in a tag match against the Best Friends (Trent Barreta & Chuck Taylor) at the show.

Ring of Honor uploaded the official in-ring debut of Tenille Dashwood (Emma in the WWE) to their official Youtube channel. Dashwood teamed with Mandy Leon in a tag match against Stacy Shadows & Kelly Klein at last Friday’s Honor Reigns Supreme event.

Impact Wrestling recently agreed to a working relationship deal with the National Wrestling Alliance, according to PWInsider. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported talks between the two companies started shortly after Billy Corgan’s lawsuit against Anthem Entertainment was settled last year. These talks eventually lead to some sort of deal being made which is the reason why the NWA is allowed to use TNA/Impact footage for their videos.
