As we reported earlier, WrestleMania XXVI will take place on Sunday, March 28, 2010 from the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The official theme for the show will be “Destruction in the Desert” and over 75,000 fans are expected at the event.
On Tuesday afternoon, Vince McMahon, John Cena, Chris Jericho, Kelly Kelly, WWE Women’s champion Melina and Kofi Kingston all took part in the official WrestleMania XXVI press conference in Glendale, Arizona.
McMahon told the local media, “Arizona is an extraordinary place. I don’t have to tell you that. Everyone who’s in Arizona knows it is and everyone all over the world knows that Arizona is a very special place. We have a very special event known as Wrestlemania so it should be quite the honeymoon and quite the marriage. Arizona and Wrestlemania.”
Mayor Elaine Scruggs has been pushing to host the event since before last year’s WrestleMania XXIV from Orlando. She emphasized the 5-day event, which will feature a street party, the Fan Axxess event, Hall of Fame Ceremony, WrestleMania 26 event and more, will bring a “much needed” $30-$50 million into the local Glendale economy.
