Former WWE wrestler Michael Brendli (Mikey of the Spirit Squad) was one of four wrestlers selected by the Kentucky Athletic Commission for a random drug test at a wrestling show in Elizabethtown, Kentucky on Saturday night. The former WWE World Tag Team Champion tested positive for THC, the main ingredient in marijuana.
Usually, the Kentucky Athletic Commission immediately suspends the wrestler on the spot and requires them to appear before the full commission. Drug suspensions have ranged from six months to one full year with fines up to $500.
On June 1, 2008, Brendli was arrested for Driving under the influence in Florida. The former Spirit Squad member was released from his WWE contract nearly two weeks later on June 13, 2008.
This past January, Brendli returned to his former stomping grounds in Ohio Valley Wrestling. Brendli saw immediate success as he defeated Idol Stevens and Johnny Punch in a Triple Threat Match to become the new OVW Television Champion.
