Kenta Kobashi has officially retired from wrestling today. Kobashi had taken some time away from the ring due to injuries, and his final match was more of an official ceremony than anything else. In his final match, Kobashi teamed with Jun Akiyama, Keiji Mutoh, & Kensuke Sasake to defeat KENTA, Go Shiozaki, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Shuhei Taniguchi. Kobashi pinning Kanemaru with a final Moonsault in a 40 minute bout.
In attendance for Kobashi’s farewell included Toshiaki Kawada, Hayabusa, Akira Taue, Hiroshi Hase and Masa Chono, as well as video messages from John Laurinaitis and Stan Hansen. Kobashi made a handful of appearances in the United Stated, including a highly acclaimed match with Samoa Joe in ROH. The pre-match pageantry was complete with tons of streamers.
