Rey Mysterio To Sign A New WWE Deal?, Details

As we’ve been reporting for a while, Rey Mysterio’s contract is coming up soon and there have been a lot of rumors about his status with the company. Mysterio’s predilection for injury is well-known at this point and while he is still valuable for merchandise sales and as a name value, he has been used sporadically in terms of an in-ring talent.

According to sources, Mysterio was at WWE Headquarters in Stamford on April 30th to talk about a new contract. The impression given was that he will be offered a deal to be a WWE Ambassador, similar to how Hulk Hogan is used now and Ric Flair was for a while. This is the same deal Ultimate Warrior announced at the Hall of Fame ceremony just before his passing, and is used to keep big value names with the company without needing to feature them regular on TV and in the ring. Vince McMahon wants him back but his status is currently up in the air.
