Update On The Conditions Of The Rock’s Mother & Cousin

UPDATE x 2: We now have some more details on the head-on collision that Ata Johnson and Lina Fanene were in. The woman who was at fault was in fact drunk, had a suspended driver’s license and was trying to escape from police. She ran through an intersection, crossed the median at high speed and collided with the car.

Neither Ata or Lina had time to react and luckily were in a sturdy car. Lina suffered a broken collarbone and Ata had bruising in the lungs and chest from slamming into the steering wheel. She also has a cast on her left hand. Luckily, both are said to be recovering well.

UPDATE: As reported yesterday, The Rock tweeted a picture of him visiting his cousin, WWE NXT Diva Lina Fanene, in the hospital after she had undergone surgery for an arm injury. Now “The Great One” has given an update on where that injury came about, and it was in a scary situation–she and Ata Johnson, The Rock’s mother, were in a head-on collision with a drunk driver.

The Rock posted the following to Instagram:

My mom & cousin @linafanene were struck head on by a drunk driver this week – they lived. First reaction is to find the person who did this and do unrelenting harm to them. But then you realize the most important thing is my family lived thru this and we can hug each other that much tighter these days. Hug your own family tighter today and be grateful you can tell them you love them. #BearHugsAndGratitude #100PercentPreventable #ChoicesMatter.
