In today’s Q3 financials, WWE announced that WWE Studios revenue increased to $1.9 million from $1.8 million in the prior year quarter. Revenue recognized in the current year quarter was mostly associated with the 2013 slate of film releases. WWE Studios’ movie portfolio generated a loss of $0.4 million in the quarter, compared to a loss of $7.4 million in the prior year quarter. That included a $7.0 million in film impairment charges.
Movies released in 2014, like Scooby Doo! WrestleMania Mystery (which was direct-to-DVD) and Oculus (theatrical release), have shown performances that are in-line with expectations.
