In light of the fallout surrounding Hulk Hogan’s racist comments that leaked online on Friday and made headlines worldwide, Hogan’s lawyer David Houston spoke to FOX 411 and was asked if he thinks Gawker released the sex tape transcript to damage Hogan’s image and sway the jury in their ongoing $100 million lawsuit. Houston said:
“I have my suspicions, as you can imagine. If I can find out it is Gawker who leaked the transcripts, we will bury them.”
Gawker’s general counsel and president Heather Dietrick denied the allegations, saying, “Hulk Hogan has only one person to blame for what he said and no one from Gawker had any role in leaking that information.”
Houston said that Hogan is devastated by those comments being released to the public and defends that his client is not a racist.
“He sincerely apologizes to his family, friends and fans.” Houston added, “He is not a racist. His history defines him as something different.”
Basically, it seems as if Gawker got pissed off at the lawsuit filed by Hogan and went to other media outlets (The National Inquirer/RadarOnline.com) and sold them the audio so they wouldn’t get blamed or come under the radar (no pun intended) during their ongoing lawsuit. It seems pretty clear that Gawker leaked the audio to other media outlets but that remains to be seen. Speaking of the actual audio, it is expected to be released early next week and it’s said to be “shocking.” One source says the small transcript that has already been released is “just the beginning” and there is a lot more on the audio that will make Hogan look even worse than he already does. According to sources, both WWE and TMZ have both heard the complete audio. WWE is well aware of what’s to come and that’s the reason they have taken the action they already have.
