Here are some more details for Pat Patterson’s upcoming autobiography Accepted: How the First Gay Superstar Changed WWE. The book will be released on August 1 through ECW Press. Bertrand Hebert helped Patterson write the book.

The Rock, Triple H and more commented on the book in a recent press release:

The Rock: “Pat is one of the greatest mentors I’ve ever had in the world of sports-entertainment. He has been instrumental in some of the greatest story lines and matches in my entire career, and I am forever grateful for his guidance and knowledge.”

Triple H: “Pat Patterson is considered a genius in our business – his wisdom and dedication are simply unmatched. Like so many WWE Superstars, I’m lucky to have learned from him and my career wouldn’t have been the same without him. Pat has played an integral part in my professional and persona life and I’m proud to say that he’ll always be a close friend and confidant.”

GLAAD President/CEO Sarah Kate Ellis: “A moving story about staying true to one’s dreams, ambitions, and identity – even in the face of improbably odds. Pat Patterson shares a stirring portrait of his rise to wrestling icon and trailblazer for LGBT athletes everywhere. Accepted is yet another display of strength and courage in Patterson’s storied career as one of the world’s most well known wrestlers.”

Here’s a synopsis of the book, which is different from the synopsis previously reported: “In Accepted: How the First Gay Superstar Changed WWE (August 1, 2016, ECW Press), WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson shares his story: from decades spent working with Vince McMahon both behind the scenes and in the spotlight, to life as an openly gay athlete from the 70’s to the present.

Peppered with 50 photographs, Accepted tells one of the most unlikely stories of a revolutionary talent, pioneer, and creative savant. Still active in WWE today, Patterson delivers his no-holds barred story from unknown to WWE luminary.

Pat Patterson was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996 and currently works as a creative consultant for WWE. Bertrand Hebert is the co-author of Mad Dogs, Midgets and Screw Jobs. Vince McMahon is the Chairman of the Board & Chief Executive Officer of WWE. A third generation promoter, McMahon purchased the company from his father in 1982. Under his leadership, WWE has developed into one of the most popular and sophisticated forms of global entertainment today.

There will also be a two-page foreword by Vince McMahon. Patterson dedicates the book to Louie Dondero. He wrote: “You made me the man I was, and you gave me the opportunity to be the man I am. Thanks for being there. I will always love you, my friend.“
