Deadline is reporting that John Cena will co-star with Kumail Nanjiani in a buddy cop comedy movie that has just been picked up by Universal.
Info is really sparse so there’s no title, release date or plot yet. The movie will be directed by Ruben Fleischer, who directed Zombieland and will be directing an upcoming “Venom” movie. The script will be written by Murray Miller, who wrote episodes of King of the Hill, American Dad, and Girls.
John Cena said Sunday night after No Mercy that he isn’t retiring, but will mostly be part-time from now on. He’s also been cast for the lead role in the Transformers spinoff movie, Bumblebee, is being “eyed” for the lead role in an upcoming Knight Rider movie, and is doing voice work for an upcoming YouTube Red animated series, Dallas & Robo. He’s also the host of American Grit, so it looks like he’s definitely going to be busy for a while.
