Various: Kalisto Update, NJPW & Wrestle Kingdom 12, Iron Sheik WWF Title

Update on Kalisto’s Injury Status

As previously reported, Kalisto suffered a head injury during last week’s episode of 205 Live after a fan threw a water bottle at his head. While the fan was quickly caught and removed from the building, Kalisto required stitches to close a facial wound and a MRI done as a precaution due to the incident.

In an update to this situation, Kalisto’s injury was reported to not have been serious and wrestled against Tony Nese during Monday’s tapings for Main Event.

“WWE Did You Know” – Iron Sheik WWF Championship Anniversary

In a “WWE Did You Know” type fact, Tuesday, December 26th was the 34th anniversary of the Iron Sheik’s first (and only) WWF Championship victory. Iron Sheik defeated then champion Bob Backlund for the title at Madison Square Garden after Backlund’s manager, Arnold Skaaland, threw in the towel to end the match.

At the time, Iron Sheik ended Backlund’s 1,470 day reign as WWF champion. Unfortunately for the Iron Sheik, his WWF championship reign would only last for a meager 28 days before being dethroned by Hulk Hogan.
