WWE’s United Kingdom Expansion Plans Update

As previously reported, WWE has been working on plans for a United Kingdom division and weekly television show since early 2017. Those plans were put on hold for the foreseeable future due to issues related to incurring costs by the WWE with their U.K. plans and ITV’s failures with their World of Sport revival project.

In an update to this situation, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s issue of the Newsletter there has recently been a lot of work behind-the-scenes in the WWE in regards to their United Kingdom plans. The biggest involved the renewal of their key “big five” contracts consisting of Trent Seven, Tyler Bate, Pete Dunne, Wolfgang, and Mark Andrews. All were reported to have received better deals as part of their renewals with one star noted to have received a $30,000 pay increase.

Meltzer also reported that WWE recently signed Zack Gibson to a United Kingdom contract and are rumored to have signed a similar deal with Joe Coffey.

WWE was also reported to be still be working on plans to hold a weekly television show for their U.K. division and have plans to open a training center in the United Kingdom within the near future.
