WWE Reportedly Held Recent Talks with CMLL

WWE reportedly held recent talks with Mexican promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s issue that WWE has shown interest in potentially working with CMLL in some capacity since Sofia Alonso took over as the new owner of CMLL. No other details were given regarding these talks.


Toni Storm Reportedly Dealing with an Unknown Injury

Toni Storm reportedly is currently dealing with an unknown injury, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

No other details regarding the nature of the injury nor its severity were given.

Storm had been originally scheduled to compete at Westside Xtreme Wrestling’s wXw In Toronto event last Friday in Toronto, Canada but was pulled from the card prior to the start of the show.


SummerSlam’s Attendance and Early PPV Numbers

WWE reportedly generated an overall attendance of around 13,500 for last Sunday’s SummerSlam event in Toronto, Canada, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The company reportedly announced an inflated attendance of 16,904 but the event itself was still a legitimate sellout at the Scotiabank Arena, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported.

WWE also reportedly generated a preliminary amount of 19,600 pay-per-view buys for SummerSlam, down from 29,900 PPV buys for last year’s event.

This week’s addition to WWE Network’s Hidden Gems series is Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling themed, featuring one classic event.
