WWE: Booker T’s “Advice” for The Revival, Jazzy Gabert on Pay Issues in NXT, Trademarks

Booker T Comments on The Revival’s Contract Situation in WWE

A recent episode of the Hall of Fame with Booker T & Brad Gilmore podcast had Booker T discuss a variety of wrestling related topics including his thoughts on The Revival’s current contract situation in WWE.

“If I could give them any advice, ‘Take the money. Take what’s behind door number one.’ If they came to me and said, ‘Hey Book, we’re going to give you a million dollars a year. You’re not going to win any titles. We’ll give you TV time. A 15-year contract.’ I’m gonna shut the hell up. I don’t give a damn about no titles. Legacy and all that is okay. But if I had the choice of getting the money, and not working, I’m taking the money and I’m not gonna care about the legacy. I’m gonna take that $15 million and parlay that into 45 or 50. For me, it was about getting paid and parlaying professional wrestling into what I’m doing right now.

If they would’ve said, ‘you can take the money and work sporadically’ or ‘take the money and stay at home.’ You would have never saw me again. I’m serious. I love the business. I got a school. I love watching these young guys going out there and live their dream. I loved living my dream as well. When I first got into the business, I had never left the state of Texas. And I was on a 15-hour flight to Japan. I’m on a flight to Germany. I’m on my way to The Islands. I went to North Korea. If I had to give it all back? No, I wouldn’t. But, if they would have gave me $1 million a year, I could’ve taken all those trips anyway and got a chance to enjoy them instead of going to the building and then to the airport.”

Jazzy Gabert Comments on Her Low Pay Issues in NXT UK

A recent episode of the WrestlingInc Daily podcast had Jazzy Gabert as the guest and one of the topics discussed included Gabert revealing that pay issues in NXT UK was one reason why she decided to leave WWE.

“This is also the thing, I just came out of the injury, right? And before my injury, I was in so much pain. I guess I was walking around with this really bad neck for a while but I didn’t know this because I thought, ‘Hey, I’m a wrestler. Of course I’m in pain.’ For me, it was freaking normal and then when I signed the contract in 2017 I think, they found out that I had this bad neck, then I had the surgery, and straight after the surgery, like the next day, there was zero pain. I was like, ‘Woah! What is this? I have no pain at all,’ and like 2018, the whole year, I was not in pain and then 2019, I signed a contract with WWE again and I’m hitting the gym, I’m having muscle pain and I’m going to the ring, my back is hurting again. I’m like, ‘Wow, I miss not being in pain.’ It was kind of strange for me. I love this business so much, but I love being pain-free too. So for me, it wasn’t really worth it. Don’t get me wrong, NXT UK, I see it’s improving if you’re all working hard, but, it was too much sacrifice for me I think for what I was getting out of there. It’s not a secret but the money is not that good there, you know? And I think if I would’ve made a little bit more money that my life would be a little bit more easier. Then, of course I could say, ‘Okay, come on. Let’s do it. It’s worth it.’ But, yeah, it was too many things. It was not just one thing. It was many things that made me feel like, ‘Okay, it’s not worth it.”

WWE Abandons Trademark Filing for EC3

WWE reportedly has recently abandoned their trademark filing for EC3, according to PWInsider’s Steven Fernandes.

WWE’s filing was abandoned on January 25th due to the company not responding in time to a notice of initial refusal from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This notice was issued on July 24th and the six month window for an official response had expired.

The reason for the USPTO’s initial refusal was due to EC3 filing a trademark for his wrestling name on April 23rd of last year.
