AEW vs. NXT Week 25 Viewership Update

As noted before, the March 18th episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT resulted in Dynamite generating around 932,000 viewers on TNT and a #20 ranking in the 18-49 demographic while NXT generated around 542,000 viewers on USA Network and a #81 ranking in 18-49 demographic.

This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided an update that featured the quarter-hour breakdowns and other details that were not available in last week’s issue.

Dave Meltzer reported that in regards to the key 18-49 demographic group, AEW more than doubled NXT at 453,000 viewers versus 204,000 viewers. It was also reported that due to NXT not running a live show with matches, there was no over-run for the week.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 982,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Jake “The Snake” Roberts promo and Lance Archer vignette segments which gained 49,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Jon Moxley promo segment and Jurassic Express vs. The Butcher & The Blade tag team match which lost 73,000 viewers.

WWE NXT started off with around 637,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the ending of the Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa video package which gained 106,000 viewers. NXT’s biggest decline of the night was the second segment of the Gargano and Ciampa video package which lost 98,000 viewers.

The March 25th episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT saw AEW suffer a decline in viewers while NXT rebounded from last week’s all-time low in viewership since the move to USA Network. AEW also maintained their advantage over NXT in both overall viewership and key demographic rankings.

AEW Dynamite drew 819,000 viewers on TNT and a #23 ranking in 18-49 demographic while NXT drew 669,000 viewers on USA Network and a #56 ranking in 18-49 demographic.

The results of the quarter-hour segment breakdowns were not revealed in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter but Dave Meltzer reported that AEW’s viewership declined in all notable demographic groups with the biggest being among teenagers at 15.4% and the over 50 at 23.7%. Meltzer reported that while the demographic breakdowns for NXT were not available due to the show not ranking in the Top 50, NXT saw an increase of 25% in viewers for the 18-49 group.
