Possible WrestleMania Backup Plans, Including No Crowd and Date Change

It’s looking less likely by the day that WrestleMania 36 will take place as scheduled at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL on April 5. The local government said on Friday that they would likely have to cancel WrestleMania because of the coronavirus if WWE hasn’t made a decision themselves by Thursday.

WWE has been discussing a few different backup plans if the event can’t take place in its scheduled location.

April 5 at the Performance Center with no fans

This idea has been pitched as a “failsafe,” according to PWInsider, so it is being considered as an option.

WrestleVotes added that according to a source, “Vince really does not want to host the event in an empty stadium. He’s very much against it, his least favorite option. Mania relocating to the PC has very little support. Source says the support is coming from a high place however.”

If this does happen, NXT TakeOver and the Hall of Fame ceremony would also very likely take place at the WWE PC.

Pushed back to June

The leading idea, according to WrestleVotes is for postponement, but they say that “that is much harder than you can imagine.”

June 7 has been a date rumored among WWE talent as of Friday, according to PWInsider.

Some people in the company have been pushing for this idea, but PWInsider says that “Vince McMahon has been said to be adamant that there will be a WrestleMania on 4/5.”

Saudi Arabia

There’s been a rumor that WWE could move WrestleMania to Saudi Arabia, but there is nothing to this rumor, PWInsider says.
