WWE Release Updates: Updated List, More NXT Releases Expected, WWE PC Coaches Released

WWE released several wrestlers and employees yesterday.

When all is said and done, it’s expected that over 100 people (wrestlers and other staff) will have lost their jobs, according to WrestleVotes.

More NXT Releases Expected

There are not expected to be anymore main roster cuts as of now, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. But more NXT names are expected to come out.

“Based on what I was told tonight, I don’t think there will be any other main roster talent cut,” Meltzer said. “As far as NXT names, I’m sure there are a lot more names that have not come out. So right now, as far as main roster, from what I’m told, we’ll probably hear more NXT guys, but main roster we pretty much have everybody. Nobody expects more main roster cuts.”

Money Saved By WWE

The talent roster cuts will save WWE about $703,000 per month, according to Dave Meltzer.

In their press release, WWE mentioned that they would save around $4 million per month, but that’s largely due to them holding off on moving to a new WWE headquarters office building in Connecticut for now.

Since they make most of their money from TV deals, WWE is expected to still be wildly profitable this year, despite the coronavirus. The cuts are not due to WWE being strapped for money, but are very likely due to them wanting to report even more of a profit so that their stock price doesn’t go down.
