AEW vs. NXT Week 31 Viewership Update

As noted before, the April 29th episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT resulted in Dynamite generating around 693,000 viewers on TNT and a #16 ranking in the 18-49 demographic while NXT generated around 637,000 viewers on USA Network and a #51 ranking in 18-49 demographic.

This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided an update that featured the quarter-hour breakdowns and other details not available in last week’s issue.

Dave Meltzer reported that AEW won every quarter-hour in terms of the key 18-49 demographic group and six out of eight quarters in terms of overall viewership. NXT reportedly won the final two quarters in terms of overall viewership due to their large advantage with the over 50 demographic.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 797,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Bubbly Bunch video segment and the Best Friends vs. Kip Sabian & Jimmy Havoc match which gained 68,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the ending of the Cody Rhodes vs. Darby Allin match which lost 67,000 viewers.

WWE NXT started off with around 757,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Charlotte Flair and Io Shirai segment and the Dexter Lumis vs. Shane Thorne match which gained 48,000 viewers. NXT’s biggest decline of the night was the Isaiah Scott interview segment, Dominik Dijakovic interview segment, the El Hijo del Fantasma attempted kidnapping segment, and the Candice LeRae vs. Kacy Catanzaro match which lost 116,000 viewers.


More on AEW vs. NXT Week 32 Viewership

The May 6th episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT saw both shows rise in viewership and AEW topping NXT in terms of overall viewership and key demographic rankings.

AEW Dynamite drew 732,000 viewers on TNT and a #12 ranking in 18-49 demographic while NXT drew 663,000 viewers on USA Network and a #33 ranking in 18-49 demographic.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW Dynamite actually managed to top WWE RAW in terms of the 18-34 Male viewership at 83,000 viewers compared to 82,000 viewers for RAW.

In terms of the key demographic group, AEW reportedly had 356,000 viewers while NXT had 238,000 viewers. AEW also reportedly won all of the sub-groups within the key demographic over NXT. AEW also reportedly won seven out of the eight quarters in terms of overall viewership with NXT’s sole victory being the first quarter.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 714,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Jon Moxley vs. Frankie Kazarian match which gained 89,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the promos-only segment featuring a MJF promo, Shawn Spears promo, and MJF & Spears promo which lost 56,000 viewers.

WWE NXT started off with around 732,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Akira Tozawa interview segment, Chelsea Green vs. Xia Li match, and Velveteen Dream interview segment which gained 43,000 viewers. NXT’s biggest decline of the night was the Karrion Kross vs. Leon Ruff match, Charlotte Flair vs. Io Shirai video package, and Matt Riddle & Timothy Thatcher interview segment which lost 84,000 viewers.
