More on AEW vs. NXT Week 36 Viewership

The June 3rd episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT saw both shows decline in viewership and rankings with Dynamite suffering the most of the two. AEW also managed to top NXT in terms of overall viewership and key demographic rankings.

AEW Dynamite drew 730,000 viewers on TNT and a #24 ranking in 18-49 demographic while NXT drew 715,000 viewers on USA Network and a #45 ranking in 18-49 demographic.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for the decline in viewership and rankings was due to very stiff competition from news shows, which dominated the rankings for the night. A weaker than usual lead-in programming from TNT also reportedly contributed to AEW’s decline for the night. In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 374,000 viewers while NXT had 257,000 viewers. AEW reportedly won four out of the eight quarter-hours in terms of overall viewership and all of the quarters in terms of key demographic viewership. NXT reportedly won three quarters and tied one other quarter in terms of overall viewership.

AEW Dynamite started off with around 740,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the latter half of the Chris Jericho vs. Colt Cabana match which gained 60,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Nyla Rose vs. Big Swole match, post-match angle with Britt Baker, and Darby Allin interview segment which lost 66,000 viewers.

WWE NXT started off with around 790,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the ending to the Breezango vs. Undisputed ERA vs. Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch match, the post-match angle, and the Santana Garrett vs. Aliyah match which gained 67,000 viewers. NXT’s biggest decline was the ending of the Keith Lee & Mia Yim vs. Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae match, Drake Maverick vignette, and Adam Cole vs. Velveteen Dream video package which lost 69,000 viewers.
