Samantha Irvin’s Non-Compete Clause Set To Expire This October

As noted before, Samantha Irvin departed from WWE in October of 2024 over issues related to Irvin’s outside music projects and Irvin wanting to do more than just be a ring announcer in the company. Irvin revealed in October of 2025 that her non-compete clause with WWE was for two years in length. Irvin had revealed this past January in a response to a fan on Twitter that she would be interested in the idea of reuniting with her husband Ricochet in AEW as a manager for him.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Irvin’s non-compete clause with WWE is currently set to expire this October.

Meltzer reported that it is currently not known if Irvin will be heading to AEW once her non-compete with WWE expires.

In regards to Irvin’s contract with WWE, Meltzer reported that Irvin was under an employee contract and not a talent one for the reason for the lengthy non-compete clause. Irvin’s contract reportedly contained terms that allowed Irvin to leave at any time as long as she gave a two-weeks advance notice but if she quit before the end of her three-year deal, there was a 24 month non-compete period written into it.

Meltzer reported that had WWE let go of Irvin instead, then there would have been no paid non-compete period for an employee release unlike talents wwho are paid for 30 days if they are under a developmental deal or for 90 days if they are under a main roster deal for their releases.
