Backstage Heat on Velveteen Dream Following NXT Return

This past Wednesday’s episode of NXT featured Velveteen Dream making his return following a lengthy absence involving several past inappropriate conduct allegations and a car accident. Dream was revealed to be the mystery third competitor for the scheduled Triple Threat qualifier match for the NXT North American Championship Ladder match at next weekend’s TakeOver: XXX event.

Fightful Select reported (via HeelByNature.com) that Dream’s return generated “significant heat” backstage due to the growing feeling within NXT’s locker room of him receiving preferential treatment in the company.

It was reported that the basis for the backstage heat revolves around Dream being unpunished for multiple behavior issues, which for anyone else likely would have resulted in their firing from WWE.

“There has long been significant heat on Velveteen Dream for behavioral issues and what is perceived as preferential treatment in multiple situations that would have had most anyone else fired. This was also the case with his return”

Following Dream’s return to NXT television, one of Dream’s accusers was outspoken on social media about his disappointment and stated that if there was an investigation performed by WWE, he was never contacted for it.
