  • WWE’s original plans for their programming this past Friday on FS1 reportedly ran into several major issues, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Dave Meltzer reported that issues surrounding their plans for the Law & Otis segments caused the show’s original script to be rewritten late and the lack of a new episode of WWE Backstage was due to FOX changing their minds late for the show.
  • Kairi Sane reportedly will be a special guest commentator for the Japanese commentary team for tonight’s Hell in a Cell event, according to J Sports WWE (via Fightful).
  • Ace Steel reportedly recently resumed working as a coach for WWE’s Performance Center, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Steel had been among those within WWE who were furloughed earlier in the year due to financial reasons related to the coronavirus pandemic.
  • WWE filed new trademarks for “Xyon Quinn”, “Odyssey Jones”, “Akeem Young”, “Ivy Nile”, and “Tony Modra” on October 20th for wrestling and entertainment-related purposes to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

AEW

  • During a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Serpentico revealed that he has signed an official contract with AEW. Serpentico stated that the actual contract was signed several months ago and was given permission to talk about it for his interview.
  • Despite mass layoffs currently expected to take place at WarnerMedia, TNT and other Turner-based networks owned by WarnerMedia managed to be up by 5.6% in revenues for the fiscal quarter, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Dave Meltzer reported that WarnerMedia’s overall revenues for the fiscal quarter were down $960 million compared to last year with their theater business division hurt the worst.

  • Lucha Libre AAA reportedly will be holding a press conference on Monday to discuss their plans for their next TripleMania event, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
  • AAA’s top masked star Psycho Clown recently revealed his hidden real name on social media. Psycho Clown is using his real name of Mario Alvarado on Facebook and Psycho Clown Mario Alvarado elsewhere on social media.
  • Brock Lesnar reportedly has recently signed a deal with UFC and/or EA for his likeness to be used in EA Sports’ UFC 4 video game, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
  • This past Friday was Harold Meij’s last day in charge of New Japan Pro Wrestling. Takami Ohbari has taken over as NJPW’s new President and CEO.
  • The parent company of recently relaunched North American Wrestling Alliance promotion, Top Contenders Inc. filed trademarks for “Jingle Brawl” and “Slambinos” on October 20th for wrestling and entertainment-related purposes to the USPTO.
  • Mexican wrestler Volador Jr. reportedly suffered a broken nose during his match for CMLL at their event last night at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico, according to the Wrestling Observer. Volador Jr. suffered the injury following a botched Frankensteiner which resulted in him landing face first onto the top turnbuckle.
  • The originally planned finish for the Call Your Shot Gauntlet match at Impact Wrestling’s Bound For Glory 2020 event reportedly was for Heath Miller to win the match and earn an Impact contract, according to PWInsider. Mike Johnson reported that an audible was called by Impact officials mid-match for Rhino to win and secure a contract for Heath following Heath’s legitimate injury.
  • Rich Swann and Su Yung reportedly are currently believed to be the first ever husband-and-wife couple to win major championship titles on the same show in wrestling history, according to the Wrestling Observer.
