Widow of Shad Gaspard Files Lawsuit Against State of California and City of Los Angeles

Former WWE wrestler Shad Gaspard passed away this past May following a tragic drowning death in Venice Beach in Los Angeles, California. Gaspard and his son had been swimming and were caught in a rip tide current. Rescuers were directed by Gaspard to save his son first but were unable to save Gaspard in time afterwards.

Siliana Gaspard, widow of the late Gaspard, reportedly filed a lawsuit on December 21st against the state of California and city of Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles Daily News.

It was reported that the lawsuit claims that negligence was committed by local government officials over the dangerous condition of public property, Venice Beach, in the death of Gaspard.

The lawsuit reportedly alleges that there were a lack of warning signs informing the public of the dangers of swimming in the area that Shad and his son were located in at the time. It is also being alleged that the lifeguards on duty at the scene were both understaffed and not properly trained.

Siliana Gaspard is currently asking for an unspecified monetary amount in damages and burial costs.
