Jon Moxley Appears on NJPW Show in Japan, Says He’ll Defend US Title Against KENTA

Jon Moxley appeared on tonight’s NJPW Strong show in Japan and said that he would defend his IWGP United States Championship against KENTA at some point.

After the show’s main event, where Lio Rush, TJP & Fred Rosser defeated KENTA, Hikuleo & El Phantasmo, Kenta’s team beat down on Rush’s team until the lights went out, and when they came back on, Moxley was in the ring with his US title. He took out Hikuleo and El Phantasmo, then KENTA tried to hit him with the Go to Sleep, but Moxley got out of it and hit him with the Death Rider.

Moxley then got on the mic and said that he would defend his title against KENTA in Japan “one of these days” and “however we gotta get it done, we’ll get it done.”

Moxley has been the US Champion since he won it from Lance Archer at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14 on January 4, 2020. Since then, he’s only defended it twice, against Juice Robinson last January and against Minoru Suzuki last February. He’s been unable to travel to Japan because of the coronavirus, and his AEW contract restricts him from wrestling for NJPW in the US.

KENTA won the New Japan Cup USA tournament in August to win a briefcase with an IWGP US title shot.
