As noted before, WWE Preisdent Nick Khan hinted in a recent interview with Variety that the company is currently working on plans to resume live events with fans in attendance within the near future.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there were hints within the company this past week of a possible June start date for the resumption of live events with fans in attendance. Meltzer reported that WWE’s talent had been informed of August being the date with the possibility of late July instead.
The reason for the different months being given reportedly is due to WWE wanting to be able to beat AEW in regards to being the first to run live events regularly again should AEW resume this July.
Meltzer also reported that while Florida and Texas currently allow live indoor events with packed crowds to be possible, the company still wants to be cautions and not make any missteps nor rush their plans for the return of fans to their live events.
In regards to NXT, Meltzer reported that the current plan is for the brand to resume running live events on a regular basis starting in late third quarter 2021.
