As noted before, WWE released a new batch of talent earlier this week which were Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Ruby Riott, Murphy, and Santana Garrett.
Post Wrestling’s John Pollock reported that based on WWE’s typical 90-days no-compete clause for releases, any of the above who were released would be available to appear at AEW’s All Out 2021 event on September 5th should AEW decide to use and sign them.
Fightful Select reported that following this newest wave of releases, the general reaction within WWE’s locker room was one of growing speculation over the idea that the company might be putting itself up for sale in the future. It was reported that rumors of a potential sale in the future have not been heard of from any of their sources within the company’s management.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that following the releases, WWE’s Head of Talent Relations John Laurinatis had sent a text message to all of the company’s main roster talent informing them that the releases were done due to “budget cuts” reasons.
Due to Budget cuts the following talent were released today. Braun Strowman, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Santana Garrett, Ruby Riott, and Aleister Black. – John Laurinaitis
