Potential Card for Next Friday’s Episode of SmackDown

While no matches were officially announced by WWE during tonight’s episode of SmackDown for the card of next week’s show, one match was teased as possibility of taking place.

During the Roman Reigns Family Celebration main event segment, Finn Balor interrupted Reigns and Paul Heyman’s promo about John Cena’s defeat at SummerSlam. Balor stated that with Edge, Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, and himself all wanting to go after Reigns’ Universal Championship, he was not going to wait in line nor till Extreme Rules and challenged Reigns to a title match on next week’s show.

Potential current card for the September 3rd episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown:

  • Universal Championship – Finn Balor vs. Roman Reigns (c)

Pat McAfee Health Update

As noted before, SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee recently tested positive for COVID-19 and will be out of action for WWE for the foreseeable future.

At the start of tonight’s show, SmackDown co-commentator Michael Cole stated that due to McAfee currently recovering from COVID-19, Raw brand commentator Corey Graves and SmackDown talent Kevin Owens would be replacing McAfee in the booth for this week’s show.


WWE Reveals New Theme Song & Logo for NXT

During tonight’s SmackDown show, WWE aired a teaser trailer revealing the official new theme song and logo for the upcoming revamp of their NXT brand.

In a tweet earlier in the night, musician Wale revealed that NXT’s new theme song is from a song by him called “Down South.”
